ABSTRACT
Aim: The definition of the deficiencies in SSI (State Statistic Institute) death
forms and comparison with results MERNIS death reports.
Method: This study is retrospective, descriptive a registration investigation.
This Investigation was performed in the Centrum of Isparta and all deaths which had been recorded by health centrums between
January 01, 2002 and December 31, 2002 were evaluated. In obtaining of data, death reports (SSI death forms, MERNIS death
reports, SSK burial licence), patient files and polyclinic registrations of the emergency service.
Results: In this study, it was defined that there were deficiency of knowledge
in the 4.6% of the SSI death forms. There were discordance with rate of 14.8% between the knowledge recorded SSI death forms
and the knowledge recorded to MERNIS death reports. According to MERNIS death reports, the primer cause of deaths was defined
as cardio-pulmonary arrest (35.4%). In the 50.5% (n=612) of the causes of deaths, the diagnosis which reported as cause of
death was false. The most of those false diagnoses were recorded by Medical School, Health Centers and State Hospital. In
the evaluation death records of 440 cases that died in hospital and the main cause of death was not recorded (n=526), it was
defined that there was not any cardiac disease in the 79.3% of records reported as “cardio-pulmonary arrest” and
in the 64.9% of records reported as “cardiac arrest”.
Consequence: The most of death certifications was exactly filled. Although,
there was deficiency in content of them. The most importance of deficiency or default of the knowledge was about causes of
deaths.
