ABSTRACT
Pancreas releases some enzymes and hormones like insulin and glucagon, which
are responsible for the digestion and metabolism of proteins, carbohydrates and lipids. Pancreas has more secure placement
into abdomen and it is less injured than other intraabdominal organs by trauma.
Eight-year-old male patient was admitted to hospital with the complaint of major
trauma due to being crushed by a truck. The complete laceration of pancreas was detected by abdominal computerized tomography,
and the distal pancreatectomy was performed. The loss of anatomic composition of the pancreas was called as permanent privation.
Organ failure and organ insufficiency after pancreatic injury were not reported
in forensic medicine in Turkey. So, here we report this interesting case and related literature.
