Abstract
Adult type cystic hygromas is uncommon and it is reported that
in the literature, the number of adults with cystic higroma is less from 100. Additionally, thoracic cystic hygromas is very
rare. Also the rupture of rectus abdominus is defined rarely.
In this article, the surgical operation was proposed to the woman case, aged 36 years old, because of cystic hygroma.
But, medical treatment was applied to her for she did not accept to the surgical operation. After one-year, she was transported
to State Hospital with the abdominal pain following the couching and swelling on the epigastrium begun. In the surgical operation,
the rupture of rectus abdominus sheets was observed. The patient died in the first week following hospitalization. The medico-legal
autopsy was performed on her body.
The present case is first case in the literature, which submitted as predisposition factor of cystic hygroma and
its medical treatment to rupture of rectus abdominus.
