TRAUMA CASES APPLIED TO EMERGENCY SERVICE OF CELAL BAYAR UNIVERSITY HOSPITAL

ABSTRACT
The injuries due to ocular trauma are one of reasons, which cause to social and
economic losses in the life of peoples and communities.
Aims of this study are the definition of reasons of injuries occurred due to ocular
trauma and the disturbance of ages and genders of victims, the examination of correlation between the types of injuries and
months and hours, and the evaluation of harassments due to traumas.
In this study, was retrospectively reviewed the archive of Emergency Service of Celal Bayar University Hospital.
It was defined that there were 91 ocular trauma cases (0.6 %) among the all cases applied in 2006 year (n=14,815). Of cases,
74.7 % (n=68) was male and 25.3 % (n=23) was female. The most of cases was in 30-39 ages group (n=26; 28.6 %). The primary
cause of injuries was work accidents (n=46; 50.5 %) and ocular foreign body was defined in the most of cases (n=39; % 42.8).
We think that the results obtained in this study which applied for definition of injuries due to ocular trauma,
will supply an important aid for prevents especially need to business.
