ABSTRACT
Introduction:
There
are limited articles about male sexual assault; however, female sexual assault has been scientifically studied over the past
few decades. The aim of this study was to describe the demographic features
of victims, assailants and assaults of male sexual assaults.
Material and Method: The database of the Board of Forensic Medicine Institute (Istanbul) was reviewed to identify
male sexual assaults. The medico-legal reports of these cases were reviewed retrospectively.
Results: The age range of 442 victims
was 4-53 years (mean: 12.68±7.33). There were 561 assailants in the 442 events. The assailants’ age range was 11-67
years (mean: 22.19±11.62). The first medical examinations following to the assaults in health centres were performed within the first 72 hours in 296 (67 %) of the victims and after 72 hours in others (33 %) (p<0.001).
The genital lesions of anal rape were found to be positive in 241 cases (54.5%) and to be negative
in 201 cases (45.5%). In the fifty of cases (11.3%) were found extra-genital lesions.
Discussion:
The results of study shown that, male juveniles were affected form sexual assaults to be victim as well as to be defendant.
We think that, the protection of children from sexual assault can be successful with educational effort about sexuality in
family and at school in youth ages.
