ABSTRACT
Domestic violence is widely seemed in all
cultures on the world no connected with educational status, economically and cultural development, and geographical regions.
As vicious circle, the major reasons of domestic violence is defined that the acceptance of this violence, the keeping silent
due to male’s social statues, and in fact, feeling guilty themselves of females as permanent victims of domestic violence
in centuries.
The aim of this study is to define to features
of females as victims of domestic violence who applied to Forensic Medicine Polyclinic of Medical Faculty of Celal Bayar University
between 2003 and 2005. Medico-legal repots, the detailed anamnesis form recorded during medical examination and all medical
records were retrospectively reviewed of 53 female victims of domestic violence in accordance of aim of this study.
In this study, they were determined that:
71.70% of cases (n=38) exposed to violence applied by their partners, and 28.30% of cases (n=15) by other family members.
The majority of victims which subjected to violence by their partners (n=17, %44.74) were in age group of 25-34 years, and
the majority of victims which subjected to violence by other family members (n=9, %60.00) were in age group of 15-24 years.
39% of all cases were exposed to violence at least one time in their life before last trauma. The generality of physical violence
occurred by assailants’ naked hands and feet. Face region of victims generously was target of assailants.
The data obtained in this study is show that, domestic
violence is important problem for our country, even in this day .
