ABSTRACT
In Medico legal practice, it is important to determine whether there is fracture
on the skull of an individual who is exposed to a cranial trauma. According to the Turkish Criminal Law, the presence or absence
of skull fracture is a significant factor to determine the punishment. Because of this, in an individual who is subjected
to head trauma, the absence/presence of skull fracture has to be detected even if there is no neurological deficit.
In this study, it is aimed to emphasize the necessity of the requirement of
cranial x-ray by forensic practitioner, in cases that any traumatic findings exist in CT. For this aim, 15 cases in which
no linear skull fractures could be determined by CT but had linear fractures that were visible by cranial x-ray are presented.
Key words: Skull fractures, radiology.
