ABSTRACT
In the present research the sexual victimization of males were investigated
in a sample at 300 male participants with a mean age of 23.6 (50=5.1). Self-administered questionnaires were employed to gather
the data. 40% of the participants reported a sexually violent act. Frequency of incidents than involve physical contact, including
sexual assault was found to be 16.3 %. Sexual assault and rape frequency was found as high as 9%. Mean age of the victims
was found to be 18, with an age range of 6-28. The majority of the perpetrators were females with a mean age of 21 (age range=
9-50yrs>. Two thirds of the perpetrators were acquaintances of which the majority was friends of the victims. The occurrence
place of the sexual violence was reported to be the perpetrator’s house in most of the cases. The most frequent method
of coercion was deception of the victim. The most common reactions were reported as guilt and shame. Almost none of the incidents
were reported to legal services. The reasons for not reporting were to be afraid of humiliation and not to degrade the perpetrator.
However, two thirds of the participants indicated disclosure to friends. In conclusion, sexual violence that largest the male
population is as frequent as it is in the female samples. However, reporting of the incidents was almost nonexistent, probably
explaining the low prevalence rates of male sexual victimization indicated in the literature.
Key words: Sexual assault, anal rape, male.
