THE CASES APLIED TO EMERGENCY SERVICE OF CELAL BAYAR UNIVERSITY HOSPITAL DUE TO HOME ACCIDENTS

Abstract:

The accidents occurred in homes or their environments are named as “home accidents”. Opposite to suppose, the deaths and injuries due to the home accidents are quite excess. The most of affected persons from home accidents are children. The home accidents are an important problem of public health.

Aims of this study are the definition of frequency and types of home accidents and age and gender profile of victims, the research to correlation between type of traumas and event time among applied to Emergency Service of Celal Bayar University Hospital at 2006. Additionally we aimed to define prevents for home accidents.

In retrospective evaluation of documents in archive of Celal Bayar University Hospital, 537 cases injured due to home accidents were defined in 2006 years. Fifty percent of them (n=269) were male and fifty percent (n=268) were female. The mostly of cases (32.6 %, n=175) was 0-4 age group. In the mostly of home accidents (57.4 %, n=308), blunt trauma findings were observed. These blunt traumas were occurred by slipping, tottering, falling in home, twisting, falling from stairs, balcony, window, bed, chair, armchair or table etc, strike to furniture or any part of home, compression by under or between of a furniture.

We suggested that the results of this study applied for the definition of home accidents in Manisa and its environment would be supply the important contributions to studies about prevent of home accidents.
