ABSTRACT
The survival of the people with a penetrating heart wound depends not only on
to any delay of first and on the spot and/or at the hospital, and on the stability of vital findings at admission to the hospital,
but also on to the causative factors to the wounding, to the site and number of the wounds, to the multiplicity of the body
wounds, to whether there are any accompanying organ wounds, and/or any tamponade and on to any development of post operative
complications in accordance with this basic narration, some 444 penetrating wound cases (between the years, 1989-1993, fatal
postmortem reports, kindly supplied by Mortuary Section of Forensic Medicine Council), and some 105 similar cases (reported
and referred to the 2nd and 3rd special board of Forensic Medicine Council by local health unites) were built up categorically
into two groups to be compared to some results, then for further comparison with the findings derived from the literature
in accordance with the literature on the subject the present attempt resulted to show a better survival to the cases of incisive
and/or stab wounds, than those from the bullet wounds to the cases with single heart and body wounds than those with the multiple
ones to the cases with a solitary heart wound, than the ones complicated with remote organ wounds and to the cases with a
tamponade developing on wounding than to the otherwise Our experience yielded no significance of survival qualify to support
discussions on any differential between right and left ventricles wounds in the postoperative period some early respiratuar
late complications were observed The findings obtained in the autopsy group gave rise to the conclusion, that the considerably
high number of the cases of fatal outcome prior to hospital admittance might be Caused by the insufficient emerge transport
service in Turkey.
