ABSTRACT
The first publication of The Journal of Forensic Medicine (as called as Adli
Tıp Dergisi in Turkish) was realized in 1985. Although it could not publish in 1998 and 1999 years, its publication was
again begun in 2000 and it is the most rooted scientific publication of forensic medicine community in Turkey which accessed
to 20th publication year in 2006. It acted as an intermediary role for the sharing of knowledge of many scientists and productions
of their studies in the forensic medicine area. Additionally, it had been a vanguard for the contribution of foreign scientists
to science area of our country.
The aim of this study, the defining of necessaries for better introduction of
Journal of Forensic Medicine after examination of its publication profile until nowadays and the submitting suggestions for
its taking part in national and international citation indexes.
For this aim, all articles which published in Journal Forensic Medicine during
20 years were reviewed, citations which attributed it were searched, and types of article, the number and specialization of
the internationally addressed articles, the disturbance of articles to years, the number and rates of citations attributed
to The Journal of Forensic Medicine from national or international journals and other specializations of articles were qualitatively
and quantitatively evaluated. In this study, Clinical Forensic Medicine which unified with Journal of Forensic Medicine after
separate publication in 2001 and 2002 years were also evaluated according to criteria which stated above. In conclusion, the
suggestions about progression of The Journal of Forensic Medicine in next years were submitted.
