ABSTRACT
In this study, our purpose was Identification of autopsy findings who were dead
due to aortic aneurysm rupture. For this purpose, we retrospectively looked through autopsy reports of cases which had been
applied to Mortuary Section of Forensic Medicine Council, between 1985 and 1994 years. From those, we selected 50 cases that
died due to aortic aneurysm rupture.
There were 41 men and 9 women which were studied in our group. There were 41
thoracic and 9 abdominal aortic aneurysms. 85.4% of aortic aneurysms with thoracic localization had been settled to ascending
aorta and 70% of these had been opened to interior of pericardium. 66% of all cases had atherosclerotic variations. In our
study, other autopsy findings relate with those cases were detailed and compared with other literature findings.
Key words: Aortic aneurysm, rupture, autopsy, death.
