ABSTRACT
Bore acid, sodium borate (borax), sodium per borate is bor compounds and they
are called borates. Borates have toxic effects on all cells due to their antiseptic properties. Acute and chronic borate intoxications
occur frequently; because, borates are widely used compounds.
In the case presented here, a 31 years-old man had problems with his wife and
he died after suicidal ingestion of borax.
In the literature on the subject, there are a total of 4fatal acute intoxications
of borates due to the ingestion of a single dose. In all the cases, intoxication occurred accidentally, whereas, our case
is the only one of suicidal origin.
