ABSTRACT
Legal autopsy is the most significant part of the legal inquiry. When unnatural
deaths are of concern, relying only on the witnesses and on the physical appearance of the corpse is a misleading procedure
as much as an improperly done autopsy. A mark on the neck is not enough for the decision of death due to mechanical asphyxia
by hanging and autopsy is necessary. Refraining from autopsy with social concern, under the influence of a conservative view
is a major fault in legal inquiries.
Key words: Death, hanging, autopsy.
